Sydney Australia
Temple/Bondi Beach
Well this was another one of my favorite days! We started out early. Hannah had taken it upon herself to find away to the temple. So we all trusted her and got on our way to go to the temple. We get on the train and we are following her instructions, we take about an hour train ride, and then get off. We walk out of the train station, and she goes, it’s suppose to be right on the corner. Guess what it wasn’t right on the corner. Turns out she really didn’t have directions, she just had the address and assumed that since one of the train stops was called the same thing as the address it was there. That’s the last time I am letting her be in charge of something…it was an epic fail. Anyway, I got and talk to someone and she is kind enough to get on her iphone and help us get directions. Turns out Hannah led us to the complete wrong city! We weren’t even close! So we get back on the train, and we ride the train back about thirty minutes, and now we are in the right city. We get off the train and go out, now we still aren’t positive so we go over to a little café and I ask for directions. We find out we are about a 45 minute walk away, so off we go walking to the temple.
I am going to be honest and say I was a little bit grumpy by this time! I couldn’t believe that the one thing she was in charge of she didn’t take care of. Anyway, I learnt something that day, that I hadn’t before. I never realized at how much of a sacrifice it can be to go to the temple. I know I didn’t have to sacrifice that much, but it gave me a better understanding of what people have to go through to get to the temple. It made me so grateful that I have so many temples so close to me, and that I am going to be getting a temple in Brigham City. I was so grateful.
Anyway, we finally got to the temple and we were able to take some pictures. Then we went in and we were hoping we would be able to do baptisms, well you see, since we took our little detour (Hannah not having directions) all of the temple workers were already doing other work so we weren’t able to do baptisms. Although, we were still able to go inside and look around at the font and everything. It was gorgeous! The temple president took us down there, and it was amazing! He told us the story of when President Hinckley was over there and decided to have the baptismal font redone because he wasn’t completely satisfied with how it was before and also told a cute story about his wife and him and the temple. It was a really neat experience, and I am so glad that we were able to at least go see the temple.
Anyway after we had been in and looked at the temple there was a mall across the street, and guess what! THERE WAS A LEGIT TARGET STORE! It was the first US store I have seen in almost 4 months! Neeley and I were so excited! We couldn’t believe it was an actual legit target! For this reason we had to go look around!
After we had looked around, it was time to make our journey back to Sydney so we set off on another 45 minute walk back to the train station, and then we took our train back into town! We made it back and we went and walked around the shops in the city for a little bit. I am going to be honest and say I love shopping in Sydney! It’s amazing! Then we headed back to the hotel!
We got back to the hotel, changed out of our dress and then we were off to Bondi Beach for the night! Bondi Beach is my new favorite Beach! I am in love with it! It was gorgeous! Also did you know that sand squeaks! The sand squeaked there! It was insane! I never would have thought! We played at the beach and jumped the waves a little bit…slash me and Nicole got really wet in our jeans…it was really funny, and then we sat and ate subway sandwiches on the beach! It was so much fun! Also, the water was so warm! I have never felt water this warm! I was in love with how warm it was! I wish all oceans were this warm!
After we spent the time at the beach, we went and walked up and down the shops at Bondi, it was so much fun! It was just a cute little/big beach community! You saw people running on the beach with their dogs, people walking up and down with surf boards, and it was just so much fun! It was a great way to spend the last day in Australia!
Anyway, we were really blessed and watched over in Australia and I had an incredible experience! I am so glad I was able to go to Sydney! It really is an incredible city! I loved every minute of it!
