PIZZA PASTA PARTY
Thursday night, one of the host mum's decided that she wanted to have a pasta/pizza party. Now when we first heard about it, we thought it was just for the girls! Which was great, and we were all excited! Then when the girls were asking well who do we invited and their mum was like everyone! So all the girls plus all of their families got to go have a pasta pizza party! It was so much fun!
After school on Thursday we all went home very fast! We decided that since it was sort of us planning it, that we would do the cooking for our families, and then bring them over so they got to have a night off! This was such a fun plan! Hannah and I made macaroni and cheese. I know right now you are all think the boxed macaroni and cheese, but not this wasn't it. We made our macaroni, and then we made are cheese sauce, and baked it. It turned out so good! The sauce was basically a white sauce with cheese in it. I'm not really sure what kind of cheese it was, but it white cheese. It was good. Then we added some salt and pepper! It was so good! In the picture above, the one we made is the middle thing in the white bowl in the picture above. It was very good!
Anyway so we all went over to the house and started mingling! It was funny. We tried to play a game, but it didn't work out very well. We tried to play the category game where you pick a category and then go around the circle and say something in that category until you can't think of anything else, then if you are the person who couldn't think of something you get sprayed, and you are in the middle. It was really funny, but hard. Especially when we did candy! It was great we did the mixture of New Zealand candy and American candy this made it a lot harder! That was a lot of fun!
Then after we played the game, we figured enough people were there and it was time we could start eating. Also, I think we were all just starving. It was also kind of exciting for us, because we had pizza hut pizza! ha ha! That sounds so weird but it was nice to have some food that we have in the states! The food was so great! It was so hard to decided what to it. There was pasta salads, pasta casseroles, homemade sauces, homemade pizza, and pizza hut pizza, and meatballs, and bread sticks! I couldn't decide what to take, so I decided to take a miniature portion of them all! It was a great decision!
I'm pretty sure that is the most any of us girls have eaten since we came over here! I was so stuffed! I'm pretty sure all the host families thought us girls were pigs. Everything just tasted so good. After that we just kind of talked and hung out with everyone and got to know the families. One of the neatest things about this experience is getting to know some of the people here. Getting to see the families and their daily lives over here.
Then it was time for dessert. Dessert was so good! One of the host mums had made this peach cake. I don't know how she did it, but it was great. It was sort of like a carrot cake, only it was peach! I decided we need to make a New Zealand 2011 cookbook, and put all of the good recipes in them so we can make this when we get back to the states! Along with that we had chocolate cake, cookies and cream ice cream, and hokey pokey ice cream. This might be my new favorite kind of ice cream.
After that we were all stuffed! I felt like someone should have just rolled me out to the car! It was good though. After dessert the girls started talking and laughing together, and the families started getting to know each other better! This made us all excited for our group family night at Western Springs on Monday! I am very excited! The last thing we did was take a group picture! It was a very fun night!
